Digital Product Passport

The regulations of the EU Green Deal and Circular Economy Action Plan require a Digital Product Passport. This applies to all products except for a few exceptions, and each regulated product group must meet specific requirements. Digital Product Passports are proposed tools for collecting and sharing product data throughout a product's life cycle and are used to demonstrate the product's sustainability, environmental, and recyclability features.

The Digital Product Passport provides a comprehensive overview of environmental sustainability aspects related to various products. Users can easily access valuable information such as durability, repairability, recycled content, and availability of spare parts by scanning a QR code.

It can inform consumers and other stakeholders in the product life cycle about the product's origin, material composition, repair and dismantling options, as well as how various components can be recycled. The European Commission is taking steps to make the implementation of the Digital Product Passport mandatory, a transparency tool that ensures a circular economy, decarbonization of the product, sustainability, and the existence of product information throughout the entire value chain.

The implementation of the Digital Product Passport provides significant benefits to manufacturers:

usability
performance

increases.
